EMPOWERING YOUTH THROUGH BASEBALL
More Baseball Foundation

The More Baseball Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit organization using baseball as a tool to empower our youth and develop life skills that extend far beyond the field. The values learned through playing baseball such as a strong work ethic, teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, overcoming adversity, and handling success will provide our youth the tools to successfully navigate through life.

We rely on the support of donors like you to help us make a difference in the lives of young people. Your donation can help provide equipment, training, and resources to help kids learn and grow through baseball.

We are always looking for volunteers to help us with our programs and events. Whether you are a baseball coach, a fundraiser, or just someone who wants to make a difference in the lives of young people, we would love to hear from you.
At More Baseball Foundation, our mission is to use the game of baseball to empower our under-resourced youth and develop their life skills that will serve them well, both on and off the field. We believe that the values learned through playing baseball - teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship - can help children succeed in all areas of their lives.
Why the Foundation? ?
Baseball has played a significant role in my life, providing me with countless opportunities and shaping me into the person I am today. After years of wanting to give back to the sport that had a major impact on my life, the More Baseball Foundation is a dream come true. The foundation is a way to provide all kids the opportunity to learn and play baseball regardless of their socioeconomic status. Many families face financial challenges when it comes to paying for baseball equipment, league registration fees or attending camps and clinics. Despite these obstacles, we believe that every child should have the same opportunity as their peers.
In the past fifteen years, youth participation fell to 37% in 2021, a steep drop from the 45% participation rate in 2008. Why the drop-off? A leading cause in this decline is the cost of play.

The cost for player registrations and equipment continue to increase yearly. For a new player to get started in baseball, they need a glove, bat, cleats, helmet and other mandatory equipment needed by the rules of the organization. The cost for a beginner in baseball is more expensive than other sports that requires less equipment.
My Story
I’m the youngest of five boys. I grew up in a low-income family and it was difficult to afford anything but the daily essentials. My mom found a way to keep us active in sports, which had a major influence on how we grew up. Sports became a way for me and my brothers to look forward to going to a field where you get to be a kid and have fun. We knew that if we wanted to play, we had to stay out of trouble in school and be model students. Growing up with four older brothers, I played almost every sport you can think of but baseball became my passion, and I discovered my love for teaching the sport as a scholar-athlete at Sacramento City College. During camps, where I witnessed first hand the impact instruction can have on a young player's joy for baseball. Baseball has had a major impact on my life. It kept me focused while growing up, helped me stay motivated through school, attended college as a scholar-athlete, and have operated a successful baseball academy for over 30 years. I want all kids to have the opportunity to experience the positive impact sports can have in one's life.
